Welcome
Hello and welcome to the website for Yorkley Primary School, part of The Forest of Dean Community Schools Federation, linked with Parkend Primary School working together to make our community stronger.
Yorkley Primary School is a very popular and well respected Community School of roughly 160 children. Children attend from Yorkley, and neighbouring villages and towns such as Lydney, Bream, Blakeney, Ruardean, St Briavels and Cinderford. It is located in the Forest of Dean, a beautiful rural setting and benefits from updated and extended facilities, last year welcoming an additional classroom due to rising pupil numbers and demand. Ofsted graded the school ‘Good’ overall at its last inspection with three of the five areas 'Outstanding'. Children are the heart of our school and their thoughts, needs and opinions are key to helping drive our school forward.
I have had the pleasure of leading Yorkley School since April 2012. Together, as a team, we all work hard to make the school a welcoming, secure and exciting place not only for our pupils but their families and the wider community too. Parents continue to describe Yorkley as “Simply Superb, a happy, ambitious, friendly school where children love learning and strive to excel”.
Our committed and dedicated staff ensure that through our bespoke Curriculum learning is inspiring, challenging and fun. We pride ourselves on being a caring school where our children’s welfare is important as we believe that happy, motivated children are successful children.
Standards at Yorkley continue to improve year on year with children leaving well prepared for Secondary School. We give our children the opportunities to achieve their full potential academically, creatively, physically and socially, preparing each one for the challenges of the 21st century.
Choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions you make for them early on in their life. Limited places are still available in some year groups. I would encourage you to come, get a feel for our school and relax in the knowledge that when your child joins Yorkley, they will be happy and flourish.
Mrs Kate Burke, Executive Head.

"Pupils are very proud of their school. It is easy to see why. It is a caring, cohesive community where everyone has pupils’ best interests at heart. They feel completely safe. Pupils look after one another. Pupils behave beautifully, their happiness and confidence are clear to see in their smiles. By putting pupils’ needs at the heart of their experience, the school provides well for all." Ofsted May 2022
