Hope you all had a lovely break and the weather didn’t spoil your plans!
This term we will be linking our topic through our geography which is based Tropical Rainforests. Any books or toys that use could be used to help bring this topic alive, please bring in [labelled].
At the bottom of the page is a link to the new topic web, please click it to find out what we are doing in all the areas! If you have any books or photographs to support any of the other areas please feel free to send them in.
We are also lucky to have the company called Zoolab coming in on the 2nd of March, where children will be able to handle these wonderful creatures! Look out for the letter home!!
On the back of the topic web are the key words that we will be exploring through the term. This will help the children deepen their understanding of what they are learning as well as [hopefully] beginning to spell them correctly. I have also provided some ideas linked to homophones as this is one of the focuses this term. They are great fun to explore together! [Promise!]
P.E. is on Tuesday and swimming on a Thursday. Please remember it is a plain white t-shirt and black or navy blue shorts. No football kit please.
Thank you to all the children and parents who complete the homework set, to the highest of standards, it is a pleasure to mark it. Look out for mini-certificates in the books!
Homework is given on the Thursday and returned by the latest the following Thursday. There is a homework book for you to use, and in the back there are some resources to help you build on maths, reading and spelling skills. If there are any issues with resources such as; glue, coloured paper etc. please ask and we will see what we can do!
Reading is so crucial to your child’s development, so please read as often as you can around your busy schedules. Keep up all the fantastic work you are doing with your child . A wonderful story book video called ‘Bookaboo’ is a wonderful resource to allow someone to read and discuss the book in a fun way. Have a look!
Please keep practising times tables with your child as this will help them enormously in their school work. Also encourage your child to read and tell the time please as this is a skill that needs lots of repeating.
YouTube have brilliant resources to watch and listen too, making learning fun and accessible!
If you have any questions or need to speak to me for any other reason, please come and see me at the end of the day. I will either be able to answer your questions there and then, or will be able to make an appointment to talk at a more convenient time.
