Class 3

Class  3 information

What a fantastic start to autumn term 2! The children have shown many of our school values especially perseverance and partnership!  They are beginning to work independently and this is a fantastic skill to have! Thank you to all of you for your support in helping the children with their reading and homework.

Here is some information for the grown ups to help us work together as smoothly as possible this term.

Teachers: Mrs Payne (Monday & Tuesday)

Miss Cross (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday)

Teaching Assistants: Ms Solana, Mrs Hutchinson and Miss Brain we are also very fortunate that we have Mrs Mitchell working in the class on Tuesdays and Wednesdays!

Homework

Homework will be sent home on a Monday and will be due in the following Monday.  The homework will be based on work that is relevant to support our learning that recaps and consolidates work already covered.  It is important to encourage your child to complete the homework as independently as possible however some work will require working together.

Please refer to the knowledge organiser for the term that will be in the homework book for key information and vocabulary that will help you support your child’s learning.

Book Bags

Please can I remind you to send your child’s book bag in with them every day. This will allow us to change their books, send home letters and prevent them from losing things from the classroom to home.

Water bottles

Please can you provide your child with a water bottle at the start of the year. It will need to be named. Water bottles will be sent home at the end of each day to be washed thoroughly. Only water should be provided. We will fill the bottles with fresh water as and when required.

PE Kits

Please ensure that your child wears their PE kit to school. PE is on a Thursday. When the weather is colder you may wish to send your child with joggers over their shorts, as they might get cold throughout the day. Please make sure that the kit you send your child to school in is sensible and as plain as possible.

Reading Books

Please ensure that your child continues to read throughout the week.  We will send one book home per week during this time which will then be brought back to school and a new one will be provided.  It is good that children re-read the book, pick out key words, talk through some trickier words, what do they mean? Discuss the plot, characters, feelings etc. If you feel they have exhausted the book use something from your child’s book shelf including magazines and leaflets!

Please put a comment every time your child reads (including the page they have got to) so that we can support them, and we can change their book. As your child is now reading longer books it is not required to read the whole book at once.  We recommend 10 minutes each night.

Fruit

Now that the children are juniors they are no longer provided with a piece of fruit at playtimes.  We recommend that you send your child with a piece of fruit each day.

Remember to bring a coat each day as we are waiting on the playground in all weather! Please refer to the drop off and pick up times as sent out by Mrs Burke.
