Information for parents of class 2
‘Valuing Learning, Learning to Value’
Welcome back to school we all hope that you have had a great summer. The children have all settled into class 2 well and we have spent the week getting to know each other and our classroom. The children have also been busy making the classroom their own.
Class 2 will be taught by Mrs T Wood with Mrs T Morse supporting every morning and some afternoons. Mrs J Wood will be teaching the class every Tuesday and Mrs R Creber every Wednesday afternoon.
- Please ensure that book bags are in school everyday.
- When you have read with your child make a comment in their reading record.
- Books can be changed regularly (encourage your child to put their book into blue box ready for changing)They will only be changed if you have made a comment.
- The children will be reading daily in class either as individuals, a group or with the whole class.
Class 2’s library day is on a Friday. When children visit the library we encourage them to choose from a selection of fiction and non-fiction. Library books need to be returned each week.
Homework will be sent home on a Friday and will be due in the following Friday. The homework will either be literacy, numeracy or topic, based on work that is relevant to our learning. It is important to encourage your child to complete the homework as independently as possible however some work will require working together.
Every child will receive a set of spellings to learn each Friday, we will then test the children the following Friday. Dependent on the child’s stage they will receive between 5 & 10 spellings to learn. The spellings will be a mixture of tricky words, which they need to learn off by heart, decodable words, which they can sound out and topic words. Please help your child to learn their spellings. Practice a little but often and always celebrate their success.
Our PE day is Thursday. Please ensure that PE kits are left in school. They need to be labelled and in a named bag. If your child attends an after school sports club they will need a separate sports kit. Children who wear earrings should not wear them on PE days.
Milk and Fruit
The children still receive a piece of fruit everyday at break time. You need to register your child if you wish them to receive milk.
Any questions please come and see us at the end of the school day.
Thank you for your continued support
