Playtimes are a crucial part of the day for the children and we work very hard to make sure that they are a positive experience for all. Recently there has been significant development of the school grounds. Our field has now doubled in size due to the old canteen being demolished.
Non-compulsory lunch-time activities are managed by Yorkley School Playleaders in both play areas, enabling pupils to access a wide range of activities, games and equipment such as skipping ropes, soft balls and hoops as well as football, basketball and netball for the older children.
At Yorkley we operate a ‘playleading’ scheme where volunteers from Years 5 and 6 manage activities in the playground during lunch playtimes, five days a week. This has been a very successful venture which encourages infant/junior interaction and creates positive role modelling
