A real mammoth tusk, thought to be around 100,000 years old, has intrigued children in Class 3. Their topic, The Stone Age, has taken on greater meaning to the children who said:’I thought it was part of a tree trunk at first, because it looks like it is made of wood. I was surprised when I found out it came from a woolly mammoth- they must have been very big!’ – Beatrice.
‘I was really surprised that I got to see a part of history in our classroom’ – Poppy.
‘I thought it was going to be light but I was really surprised just how heavy it was!’ – Oliver.
Thanks to parent Kerry Bashford for bringing in the tusk, which was found near Cambridge.
