A Culture of Anti-Bullying at Yorkley School.
16th – 20th November was Anti-Bullying Week – however Yorkley School started their campaign to stop bullying back in September when they joined thousands of other schools Nationwide to watch The BIG Anti- Bullying Assembly. This was a special film brought together by the Nationwide Building Society and The Diana Award, that aims to help tackle all forms of bullying. Children and celebrities talked through how bullying had affected them. They also explained the importance of speaking out and having your own support network.
Following on from the assembly all children across the school pledged to stop bullying!
They produced an anti-bullying poster and two winners had their design made into display boards which are now displayed in the main foyer of the school.
Emily Cummings (aged 11), was the overall winner of our Anti-Bullying Competition.
“I was surprised I won, there were so many great designs entered from across the whole school. I knew I needed to design something bright to stand out and wanted to help pledge to stop bullying so put that message on my poster.”
Runner up was Lily Preest (aged 9) whose design was also made into an A3 board for the inside of our school. “It was really fun to design a poster, I just want to help people and ensure no one gets bullied”
Special thanks to Whitehouse Press, as they donated both the boards and a video demonstrating the process of creating the final product free of charge to the
